About Us

THE U.S. FOOD AND AGRICULTURE SYSTEM ACCOUNTS FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 PERCENT OF GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS.

If nothing changes, by 2050, the agriculture sector could account for the largest share of U.S. emissions and we will fail to curb the climate crisis in light of growing global demand for food.

Addressing these challenges will require new investments and strategies that unlock, advance, and deploy climate-smart and regenerative agriculture solutions that reduce emissions and sequester carbon while supporting the livelihoods of U.S. farmers and ranchers.

The Platform for Agriculture and Climate Transformation takes a comprehensive and coordinated approach to grantmaking across three key drivers of change:

TRIBAL NATION AND STATE CROSS-CUTTING STRATEGY

PACT recognizes that a sector-wide transition to climate-smart, regenerative agriculture will only be possible through complementary approaches that include a significant and sustained investment in tribal nations and states. In particular, the tribal nation and state strategy will support implementation of federal dollars in key states and tribal nations, advance tribal and state-level climate-smart and regenerative agriculture policy, and build grassroots power, especially with tribes and BIPOC-led/serving NGOs and producers.

PACT seeks to drive collective impact through our grantmaking and partnerships.

We are a nimble re-granting fund that prioritizes meaningful connections and continuous improvement to foster shared learning  and drive institutional, equitable change.

GRANTMAKING

PACT provides grant funding to 501(c)3 organizations to drive climate-smart and regenerative farm policy, unlock private sector financing through new markets, and support innovation through public-private partnerships.

We prioritize cultivating and elevating authentic, pragmatic leaders who work on-the-ground to support producers and communities, strengthen local economies and bolster sustainable markets to demonstrate and underscore the importance of dedicated investment in climate-smart and regenerative agriculture.

Our grantees represent a variety of perspectives and approaches to climate solutions and perspectives including environmental and policy organizations, state and local grassroots networks, ag-tech and producer-serving organizations.

- Our grant proposal process is invitation only. We select for opportunities that offer high-impact, innovative, and equitable approaches to advancing climate-smart agriculture.

- We invite and consider proposal applications on a rolling basis which affords flexibility and encourages collaboration.

- We make grants to support work across our three pillars of policy, markets, and innovation.

- A throughline of our grantmaking strategy is to support tribal, state, and local organizations who work authentically and directly with farmers and ranchers, especially those who have been historically marginalized.
